a little over year after its foundation, reaktivate achieves one of its 1st major goals: to put out a release in a tangible, physical format. even though the label tries to put the same care into each of its releases, independently of the final form it takes, as we believe in making the music acessible to as many people as possible, we realize that entering the vinyl market is a decisive step in the showing of commitment and belief in what we do and the artists we support, to the scene at large. for this landmark release, rkt upholds its tendency to be a platform that combines both newcomers and established artists in techno. up and coming colombian talent daniel restrepo (astronomical telegram) represents a strong bet that we feel is justified, and here he is met by three (well, actually four) artists with proven track records in modern techno with an eye beyond the functional.

the deep house is the genre of reference that the author aims to customize in his title track >say what<. it is a ganglion of rhythm and foggy atmospheres where a voice reproduces a sort of rhyme. it is pretty similar to >revenge<, where the loop cyclic effect is preferred to another though, and where the voice (reduced to a sharp tip) pierces the four quarters in place of the snare drum. both tracks are presented in their remixed versions: the first made by julie marghilano and the second by matthew burton.

morgan zarates second release for hyperdub is a bold and unexpected move for him. he has been known in the past as the producer for leftfield soul group spacek and also currently as one half of the shining, signed to xl records, but with >broken heart collector< he has made some highly contagious dubstep pop, featuring rising singer / songwriter / producer stevie neale on vocals. stevie warns of a guy who is the titular >broken heart collector<. her rnb vocals contrast with a fierce storm of drums and vertiginous synths that attack like waves against rocks. it is a brilliant pop song, with a chorus earworm you might find hard to resist. there is also an instrumental included as well. the third track is >crey bey<, an energetic, grimy 8 bar instrumental. it shifts between dive-bombing synths and a spooked, nervous melody over a rich organ track, with martial kicks and snares guaranteed to get you bouncing.
